Elon Musk Criticizes Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ as ‘Pork-Filled’

Elon Musk has publicly denounced President Donald Trump’s recently passed tax and spending legislation, known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” labeling it a “disgusting abomination” and criticizing its extensive “pork-barrel” spending.

The bill, which narrowly passed the House and is pending Senate approval, proposes over $4.5 trillion in tax cuts and increases defense spending by $350 billion. To offset these costs, it introduces deep cuts to social programs, including stricter work requirements for welfare recipients, potentially affecting millions of Americans’ access to healthcare and food assistance.

Musk’s criticism comes shortly after his resignation from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he was tasked with reducing federal spending. He argues that the bill undermines fiscal responsibility and could escalate the national debt by an estimated $2.5 trillion, burdening future generations.

The legislation also rolls back key incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act, including electric vehicle tax credits and clean energy investments, which previously benefited companies like Tesla. Additionally, it imposes new annual registration fees for electric and hybrid vehicles.

While some Republican lawmakers support the bill, others, including Senators Rand Paul and Ron Johnson, share Musk’s concerns about its fiscal implications. The bill’s future remains uncertain as it faces scrutiny in the Senate.
